On behalf of the faculty and staff of Ronald Reagan, I would like to welcome everyone back to school. The staff and I look forward to an exciting year with your children. I feel that Ronald Reagan Fundamental School has something special to offer. Reagan embodies a legacy of excellence by placing an emphasis on the learning of the traditional “back-to-basics”, Reading, Writing and Math. At Ronald Reagan we provide a rigorous academic program and strive to develop individual responsibility and independence in each student.
There is a firm requirement that students complete all class work and homework. This includes make-up work when a student is absent. Every mistake is looked upon as a learning opportunity to build knowledge and skills, while working towards the mastery of the state standards. The people at Ronald Reagan also make the school something special; our students, parents, teachers and staff. Parents agree to support Reagan’s goals and philosophies while upholding student and parent expectations. Staff members agree to provide rigorous academic instruction that is attainable yet challenging to each student, regardless of his or her academic level. The result of these ideals is an atmosphere of support and commitment.
Positive Behavior Intervention & Support
This year at Ronald Reagan, we are introducing a new discipline process known as Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS is a management system established to address the behavioral and discipline systems needed for successful learning and social development of students. Specific behaviors (rules) are taught in each school environment consistently by all staff. The expectations are clear and consistent throughout the entire school. We expect all students to be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. We have taught each child what the expectations are and the entire staff models those expectations consistently. Being a “Patriot” includes taking individual responsibility for one’s own learning, including coming to school prepared and ready to learn both collaboratively and independently. I believe Ronald Reagan is something special and something unique; holding true to traditions of high expectations and excellence. As parents, you play a vital role in our “Patriot” dream: that all students can and will achieve the standards. Believe it and it will happen! Sincerely, Tom FletcherPrincipal
